Vale Royal Swing Bridge Restoration

The Vale Royal Swing Bridge is a 150 year old foot-bridge over the Vale Royal Locks. In March, a joint effort by The Canal & River Trust and The Saltscape Landscape Partnership saw the 8.5 tonne bridge removed from its position via crane and transported down-river by the use of a barge. A very complex operation at a fairly inaccessible part of the river.

Renovations of the grade ll listed swing bridge included shot blasting which has enabled a closer inspection and recording of the bridge structure.
