Saltscape’s group of local history volunteers and community archaeologists visited the local archives office in Chester last month.
Cheshire Archives and Local Studies collects, protects and promotes interest in and the use of records and printed material relating to the historic county of Cheshire.
The service identifies, collects and cares for archives and publications that are the evidence of Cheshire communities’ lives past and present. A shared service of Cheshire West and Chester and Cheshire East Council the service makes collections accessible to local people for information, learning,enjoyment, work and to make sure archives survive so that future generations will be able to do the same.
The service is also responsible for delivering the archives service for Warrington and Halton boroughs.
