Competitors from as far off as Leyland in Lancashire and Llandrindod Wells in North Wales will be taking part in our hedgelaying competition this Sunday.
Ten people will be entering the Open category, and a further eight in the Novices. Each competitor will be given a length of hedgerow to lay and names will be drawn out of a hat. Competitors have five hours to complete their ‘stretch’ so there will be plenty of time to come along and see them in action.
There is lots on offer for spectators and families too with birds of prey from Vale Royal Falconry, family-friendly bushcraft activities from WilderThings, and willow weaving from renowned willow sculptor Sarah Gallagher- Hayes of Twigtwisters (see main photo). There will also be fascinating traditional woodcraft demonstrations from Mamu’s Greenwood Crafts
The event will be open to the public from 10am. Parking is on the Grange school playing field adjacent to Thorn Wood and will be signposted on the day. Click here for directions. or call Saltscape on 01606 723 160
